October Deer Bow Hunt

Apply for an October Deer Bow Hunt

Tennessee Wildlife Federation is partnering with Texas Wildlife Association to offer Tennessee youth a unique opportunity to apply for an extended, mentored deer bow hunt in Somerville, TN!

Federation hunts are great opportunities for youth aged nine to 18 to deer hunt with their parent/guardian and an experienced Federation Hunt Master.

This hunt is a five-day immersive experience. For hunters and parents, this event includes step-by-step, practical sessions to instruct hunters. Sessions will include: reading the land and understanding the species to determine the best hunting location and approach; blinds--why we use them and how to build one from natural materials; considerations for ethical harvesting; tracking the harvest; safe field dressing; and how each portion of the harvest is best prepared and why.

All hunters must bring and use a compound bow (no crossbows). All participants will receive the bow hunters certification course. Eleven meals during the hunt will be provided for the youth and their guardian.

To be eligible, participants must have successfully completed the Tennessee Hunter Education course prior to the hunt and have a valid Tennessee hunting license.

Participants selected for  the hunt will be contacted soon with details.

We encourage all interested youth to apply.

October 10-14, 2018, in Somerville, TN
$300 per hunter (includes parent/guardian)
