Event Details
Hello,

Congratulations on being chosen to participate in the 11th annual Davis P. Rice Memorial Youth Waterfowl Hunt. We are excited that you will be joining us this weekend for what we hope will be an incredible hunt!

Below, you will find hunt details and reminders. Please read through this email carefully to ensure you are prepared for the the hunt. 

Participants must have all forms and pertinent documents completed and with them in order to hunt.


Before Your Arrive

When you arrive for check-in Friday afternoon, please have the following documents printed and completed:
  1. All three of the following releases: Hold Harmless, Agreement Regarding Use of Property, and Health History**It is critical these forms be signed by both the parent/guardian and the youth. Without these signed releases, youth will not be allowed to hunt**
  2. Copy of youth's hunting license (if youth is 13 years old or older)
  3. Copy of youth's hunter education card, unless it is printed on youth's lifetime license
  4. Proof of Federal duck stamp (if youth is 16 years old)
Please note: While copies of licenses are required for registration, all hunters must have their actual hunting license on their person at all times while hunting in Tennessee.


About Friday
  • The banquet menu consists of barbecued chicken, pork loin, green beans, coleslaw, baked potato, and a dessert
  • Check-in is 4:00-5:45 PM. The banquet begins at 6 p.m.
  • Every 30 minutes--from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.--there will be Waterfowl Hunting 101 sessions with Hunt Master Matt Brink. We recommend both hunters and parents attend one of these sessions.
  • During the banquet, there will be a silent auction and a raffle. Two shotguns will be raffled. Tickets for the raffle may be purchased before and during dinner. Prices are as follows:
    • 1 ticket for $10
    • 3 tickets for $20
    • 20 tickets for $100
  • Blind meet-up times and locations will be set by blind captains after the banquet. Please be sure to meet with your blind captain before leaving.

About Saturday
  • Blind captains will work with each group to see how long they want to hunt, but expect to stay until after lunch.
  • Meals will be provided. Hunters are encouraged to bring drinks and snacks.
  • Dress warmly. Watch this video for tips regarding how to stay warm and comfortable in a duck blind.
  • If you have rubber hunting boots, we recommend you bring them.
  • Wear camouflage if you have it. If not, dark brown colors will suffice.
  • Bring a shotgun and a modified choke rated for steel.
  • Bring eye and ear protection.
  • We recommend bringing a small cooler to store and transport harvested ducks.
  • All youth are asked to complete a hunting survey and write a thank you note to receive their 2019-2020 hunting license. 
Note to duck blind chaperones: At the end of the hunt, please allow enough time to take a group photo and remind youth to complete the hunting survey and thank you note.

Last-minute spots available for duck hunt!



Last-Minute Spots Available for
Davis P. Rice Memorial Youth Waterfowl Hunt
Attention athletes, coaches, parents and guardians,

We secured two new duck blinds to add some last-minute openings for the 11th Annual Davis P. Rice Memorial Youth Waterfowl Hunt!

This is a great opportunity to hunt in some prime duck areas.

If you are interested in attending the hunt on February 2 an are 16-years-old or younger, please follow the link below to register.

Registration is on a first come, first served basis until all spots are filled. For more information about the hunt and the Friday night banquet, visit the Davis P. Rice Memorial Youth Hunt web-page.


Registration costs $45 per youth hunter. This fee includes hunting on Saturday, two boxes of ammunition, and the youth's meal ticket for the banquet. Additional meal tickets can be purchased on the registration page for $15 each.

Once you have registered, you will receive additional details before the event. 

Below are the forms that need to be completed before the hunt. Please make sure to bring the completed forms with you when arriving to the banquet on Friday, February 2.
