Tennessee SCTP Season Update

Coaches,

We know there is a lot going on. Our goal is to update you with the best information we have.

First, April 1 is the registration deadline. ALL athletes are to be registered in the Tennessee SCTP system and all paperwork and payments are to be submitted. Please get everyone registered. If this is a problem for your team please let us know and we will try to accommodate. If you are having any difficulties getting registered, please contact Dylan or Andrew immediately. Both are still working and ready to help.

Please visit www.tnsctponline.org to ensure all your athletes are in the system, paid, and paperwork has been submitted.

We are needing registration information to make the final detailed decisions regarding Regionals and State. Like we said in our other email, we are proceeding with plans for those events to continue and need to know what volume of athletes to expect.

Second, with the current cancellation of Hunter Education courses by TWRA, we are going to modify the Hunter Education requirement. All athletes that have not completed Hunter Education are required to complete the online Hunter Education course. Have the athletes present you a copy of their completion certificate and forward that with their hold harmless and consent waiver. They will be required to complete Hunter Education field day before starting the 2020/2021 season. I know that some athletes may have been in the middle of a course when it was canceled. It will not hurt them to repeat information they have already gone over.

To complete the Hunter Education course online: https://www.hunter-ed.com/tennessee/

Third, with the current restrictions that some team sponsors are placing on practice, we are going to waive the minimum 600 target requirement. National SCTP has waived its 6 organized practice rule for teams as well. Teams should work to get in as many targets as possible. If your team is not able to practice as a group, encourage your athletes to take the same time to practice gun mounts and other off-field training exercises. New athletes can take time to review items such as the shot sequence for skeet and other aspects of the disciplines shot.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,
Tennessee Wildlife Federation team

You've been selected!

Hunting and Fishing Academy
Turkey Hunt weekend April 25-26
Congratulations TNSCTP

You have been selected to attend a Hunting and Fishing Academy experience in Gleason, TN on April 25-26.

You will learn to turkey hunt with highly-trained volunteers and Hunting and Fishing Academy staff members in Tennessee’s great outdoors.

To register and pay for the experience, please click here. Registering will reserve your spot at the event.

Once you have registered, your Hunt Master, Chris Hearn, will contact you to get acquainted and provide more hunt details!

Packing checklist

To help you plan for the weekend, we have prepared a turkey hunt checklist. The checklist items are recommendations (except where noted otherwise), but we have found these help make your weekend more enjoyable.

Take a moment and please review the turkey hunting regulations in the current Tennessee Hunting & Trapping Guide prior to the hunt.

Please do not hesitate to contact a Hunting and Fishing Academy staff member with any questions that you may have! We’re here to help you get ready!

Thank you,

Tennessee Wildlife Federation

*To receive a refund, cancellations must be made at least seven days in advance of the event. Please contact a program staff member to request a cancellation.

*If the minimum number of participants is not reached at least seven days in advance of the event, the Federation reserves the right to cancel the event and issue refunds to those who have registered.

What’s your opinion on these bills?

The Tennessee General Assembly might be taking a break because of COVID-19. But the work is still going!

Your voice is powerful. Now is the time to use it.

Tennessee Wildlife Federation is the only wildlife organization with a regular presence on Capitol Hill. Help us represent you!

As the fight for conservation has ramped up in our state, we have been on the move getting support for issues critical to conserving wildlife and wild places in Tennessee.

You can (and should!) take credit for every success in the 2019 Annual Report. Your support has spurred a revival and is making an impact for conservation every single day.

Tennessee SCTP COVID-19 update

Coaches, Athletes, and Parents --

Tennessee Wildlife Federation’s Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program team is monitoring the situation concerning COVID-19 and how it will affect the season and program events. Our primary concern is for the health and safety of those in the program.

Team Practice, Meetings, and Local Competitions: First, consult your team sponsor. If you are a school or 4-H team, there may be rules about events and participation therein. If you are not a school or 4-H team, athletes, coaches, and parents should follow CDC, White House, and Tennessee state government recommendations.

Regional and State Championships: We are currently moving forward with plans for the Regional and State Championships but are also developing contingency plans. Our team will be watching the quickly changing situation and communicate that information as soon as it is available.

We expect details about Regionals and State registration will be distributed on May 1 and May 15, respectively.

As you know, this is a very fluid situation and we will endeavor to keep everyone up to date.

Sincerely,
Tennessee Wildlife Federation team
